Maintaining their iconic look, this ozone blue CTAS 70's Ox Renew model arrives as part of the Converse Renew collection which promotes the use of 100% recycled polyester - made from post consumer plastic bottles. Approximately eleven bottles go into each pair and the fabric surface and finish is extremely close to that of previous models. As well as the uppers, the lacing system also uses 100% recycled polyester and instead of metal components, embroidery has been used for the eyestays and eyelets. The natural tone tongue features decorative embroidery around its top edge reading the project’s tagline of ‘Life’s Too Short To Waste’ in a matching shade of ozone blue. Along the back of the heel a contrasting fabric panel leads down to a black and white rubber stamp with signature Converse All Star branding placed upon the thick white midsole. Around the front of the foot an additional section of rubber increases durability and a dark brown tread design supplies a high level of grip.
Initiated four years ago, Converse have brought to life their first Renew collection for summer ‘19 which highlights developments within the company towards more sustainable manufacturing techniques and the use of post consumer waste. Almost indistinguishable from traditional styles, this release represents the beginning of an ongoing project that includes plans to use vintage jeans and a Renew cotton material to create unique versions of signature styles, whilst increasing awareness for new ways to use unwanted waste.
